Frequently asked questions

Everything about running your warehouse with PickForge.

Getting started

What does PickForge do?

PickForge turns any phone or barcode scanner into a warehouse pick-and-pack station for your Shopify store. Scan the courier label at the packing bench to open the order, scan each product to verify it (a wrong item triggers a mispick alarm), and fulfill the order on Shopify with its tracking number — all without giving warehouse staff Shopify accounts.

How do I set it up?

Install from the Shopify App Store, add your warehouse staff under Staff (each gets a PIN), and optionally map your shelves under Locations. Your open orders sync automatically; pickers log into the scanner with their PIN and start packing.

Do my warehouse staff need Shopify accounts?

No. Staff log in with a PIN issued from the Staff page. PINs can be deactivated at any time and every scan is attributed to the PIN that made it.

Picking & packing

What picking flows are supported?

Three: (1) scan-and-pack at the bench — scan the courier label, the order opens, verify each item; (2) label-driven picking — when the shipping label exists before picking, pick straight into the labeled parcel; (3) classic picklist picking by shelf order for batch runs.

What happens on a mispick?

If a scanned barcode is not on the open order (or exceeds its quantity), the scanner shows a loud, unmistakable alarm before the box is closed. The event is logged so you can see which SKUs get confused.

How does fulfillment work?

When every line of the order is verified, PickForge creates the fulfillment on your merchant-managed location via the Shopify API, attaching the tracking number from the scanned label.

Data & privacy

Does PickForge store my customers' personal data?

No. PickForge is built zero-PII: locally cached orders hold only the order number, line items (SKU, quantity, title, image, barcode), tracking numbers and statuses. Customer names, addresses, emails and phone numbers are never persisted.

What Shopify permissions does it need?

read_orders and read_products (to build the pick queue and resolve barcodes), write_merchant_managed_fulfillment_orders (to fulfill packed orders with tracking), and read_locations (to fulfill on the right location).

Billing

How does pricing work?

Flat monthly plans through Shopify Billing — Free, Starter $19, Growth $49, Warehouse $99. No per-order or usage fees. Upgrade, downgrade or cancel any time from the Plan page; your warehouse data is never deleted on downgrade.
